Water Economy of a Lichen 2
solo exhibition, Kino Atlas, Prague, 2025–2026

Water is the liquid skeleton of life.
Lichens are among the few organisms that have no ability to retain water. When a human lacks water, they die within three days. When a lichen lacks water, it switches into a dormant state. A lichen lives only when it is directly touched by water.
This series of watercolours reveals how a lichen’s body is shaped by water itself, by the touch of pigment water on paper. A lichen appears where water once was. Those are the places where the watercolour becomes coloured.
Both the lichen and the watercolour are traces of water. Because water is the liquid skeleton of life.
