Scenes of Beton
Scenes of Beton is a series of A3 drawings, paintings, and occasional collages developed alongside the film Beton. Concrete is a material of fixation. It hardens, freezes movement into form, and has become part of one of the largest human-made structures on Earth. Like concrete itself, these images are hardened moments, fragments of time held in place. Rather than illustrating a narrative, they focus on situations where contemporary life reveals its points of friction: habits, fears, desires, social rituals, and inherited forms of behaviour. What interests them is not flow but resistance. Something gets stuck, and by getting stuck, it becomes visible.
The series is developed alongside the feature film Beton, with which it shares both its title and its underlying method.
Part of this series was presented in the exhibition Scenes.
