Linden Tree of the Third Millennium

2008, performance for three 16 mm projectors, 32 min., color, Polish & Czech

A film-performance projected semi-simultaneously by three projectors: as soon as the film strip leaves the first projector, it enters the second, and from the second it continues to the third. During the screening, the projectors are moved, so the polymorphous blending of multiple images is created live.

The work follows a journey to Polish Silesia, to the town of Wambierzyce, built after the description of the Heavenly Jerusalem. During the journey appear Polish Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Table Mountains, and the full moon. In the town there is the hill of Golgotha, reached by an extremely rich sculptural Way of the Cross, together with 58 open chapels depicting scenes from the life of Jesus. There is also a basilica containing a fragment of an ancient miraculous wooden sculpture of the Virgin Mary. It was autumn, and the fallen golden leaves resembled thousands of golden righteous souls.
