Lichens Are the Way (expanded film installation and material images)
What if images behaved like lichens?
Lichens are not single organisms.
They are symbiotic relations between different forms of life.
They grow slowly.
They attach themselves to surfaces.
They persist.
Lichens Are the Way follows this logic.
Rather than producing isolated works, the project unfolds as a field of images developing across film, spatial installation, and material images assembled from recycled matter.
Moving images, fragments, surfaces, and objects coexist. None of them occupies the center.
At the core of the project lies the film Lichens Are the Way.
In the installation version the film is transformed into a spatial composition. Fragments of the film unfold across five screens in looping sequences. Each screen presents a different temporal layer of the work.
The viewer does not follow a single narrative.
The viewer moves through the space.
Cinema becomes one surface among others.
Alongside the moving images appear material images created from recycled materials.
These works do not illustrate the film. They translate similar gestures into physical matter: fragments, surfaces, and textures that accumulate traces of time.
Moving images and material images are treated as equal elements within the installation.
Together they form an ecology of images.
The project has developed through several exhibitions and spatial constellations, including:
Each presentation added new images, objects, and spatial arrangements.
Rather than a fixed work, Lichens Are the Way grows slowly over time.
Images attach themselves to surfaces.
They coexist.
They persist.
