wood, 35 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm and Super 8 film, wire
25 × 17 cm, 2016

Both works begin with a simple handmade gesture: making something for oneself from what is already at hand. The first work is a garment stitched together from worn clothes and textile remnants, a form of shelter, repair, and prayer addressed both inward and outward. The second arranges different analogue film formats on wood and connects them by wire through their perforations in order to compare their proportions. Originally conceived as a practical and pedagogical tool, it also takes on the appearance of an icon. In both works, a useful object exceeds its function and becomes a way of relating: to one’s own body, to one’s own medium, and to the need to create order, closeness, and orientation.
