DE POTENTIA DEI
2016, color & BW, 66 min., 16 mm > HD video
A film about montage as the art of connection. A film about how things relate: images, songs, people, secrets, and the connections that remain unseen.
“De potentia Dei is difficult to translate. It would be better to interpret it,” says one of the protagonists. But perhaps it is enough simply to see De Potentia Dei.
A film on film and a film about montage, De Potentia Dei explores relation itself: between images, songs, people, secrets, and the world. Connections appear and disappear. Some remain visible, others hidden. Songs do not accompany the film. They connect it.
Moving between secrecy and openness, and haunted by Malevich’s Black Square, the film searches for a place on Earth. In touching the ground, it resurrects Malevich’s foot.
