Caressing Prints

I move in circles. Again and again, until it feels right. Like washing windows, having sex, speaking. The same movement, but meaning deepens, traces remain on the surface. Another day. I work with what gets thrown away: used printed matter and the ink it carries. I dissolve it, move it elsewhere. The new image takes from the old; no new colours are needed, I mix them by moving in circles. It is physical work and meditation, cleaning that makes things dirty. What is loss in one place is creation in another. The hand continues. I watch as unwanted paper and my movements give rise to something else, something I hadn’t even wanted.
