The black notebook brings together material trials, blind paths, and finished images. They were made by handling things, placing them next to each other, moving them. This is thinking lived through matter. Ideas alone do not shift anything; only their imprint in the world does.
The notebook has the format 13 × 21 cm. Its sequence is fixed. At the same time, works were being gathered in green binder, from which the exhibition of the same name, Green Binder, gradually emerged. One holds a line. The other allows it to shift.
The film The Personal Life of a Hole comes from the same field. As the film moves around holes, these images, like those in the green binder, stay at their edges, giving them form.
What they do not show is as important as what they do. What remains outside the image is the subject itself: the hole.
