1 + 1 + 1
solo exhibition, Kino Drahomíra, Karlovy Vary, 2025
The exhibition presents visual thinking in the A4 paper format. It offers a glimpse into an imagination that evolves in parallel with the film of the same name – 1 + 1 + 1. This film, blending fiction and documentary approaches, explores the idea of progress: how, where – and whether – to keep going at all. It had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was later screened in the very cinema where the exhibition was held.
The title 1 + 1 + 1 refers to the principle of accumulation, which forms the backbone of the modern European idea of progress. At the same time, it evokes the very logic of cinematic thinking – the assembling of frames, shots, and scenes into a meaningful whole.
What if we’re moving forward only to distance ourselves from what truly matters?
But what if right now we have a chance to move differently – in a whole new direction?
They say less is more – but what if less is simply just... less?
